Are you passionate about global health and looking for an opportunity to make a real impact? Join us as a Global Programs Coordinator at the Alfred Emergency Academic Centre (AEAC). The Department

Alfred Health Emergency cares for the local communities of Southern and Bayside Melbourne as well as for the broader Victorian community due to the large number of state-wide clinical services. Care is delivered through our two campuses: The Alfred Eva and Les Erdi Emergency and Trauma Centre (E&TC) and Sandringham Hospital Emergency Department (SHED). Together these two sites see and treat in excess of 110,000 patients per annum. Alfred Health Emergency (AHE) is used to describe all services provided by medical, nursing, allied health, clerical and many other services to patients presenting to these two sites.

The Role

As a Global Programs Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in identifying, responding to, and coordinating initiatives that support AEAC’s global programs priorities. You will build and nurture relationships, generate opportunities, and manage the delivery of impactful projects. This is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of global health initiatives and help us grow and expand this vital program of work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders such as the Department of Foreign Affairs, Monash University, the World Health Organisation, international community groups, and clinical and academic collaborators.
  • Global Partnerships: Engage with national and international partners to expand AEAC’s support for global emergency care and enhance the capacity for high-quality training, support, and mentorship.
  • Funding Coordination: Identify and coordinate funding applications for projects aligned with AEAC’s activities and priorities.
  • Project Management: Oversee the coordination of projects, initiatives, and staff involved in AEAC’s global initiatives.
  • Procedure Development: Create and implement policies and procedures to enable global program activities and ensure alignment with AEAC’s objectives, funding requirements, organisational directives, and best practice.

Key Capabilities

  • Proven ability to identify funding opportunities and develop successful proposals.
  • In-depth understanding of international and domestic aid priorities and key stakeholders.
  • Experience in international project development and delivery.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, initiative-driven approach.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build meaningful relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • High-level written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.

Qualifications and Experience Required

Essential:

  • A graduate qualification in a relevant field (e.g., international development, public health, global health, project management).
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in health-related global projects or programs.

Desirable:

  • Experience in emergency care organisations, systems, and projects.
  • Established networks with global health providers and funding bodies in Australia.
