The Guangzhou Institutes of Biomedicine and Health (GIBH, https://gibh.cas.cn) is a research institution of excellence affiliated with Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS, https://english.cas.cn), based in the Pearl River Delta region of China, with more than 40 faculties and 500 graduate students/scientists from 10 countries. GIBH offers a set of world-class core facilities and platforms for biomedical research, with focuses on understanding the pathological mechanisms of human diseases and developing innovative solutions for disease prevention and treatment. GIBH has established internationally recognized research programs in stem cell biology, regenerative medicine and drug discovery, with recent expanding to human cell lineage atlas. New faculty positions are now open, including center directors and principal investigators.

1. Center for Cell Lineage and Atlas

The center targets major scientific questions related to development, physiology, disease, and aging, aiming to elucidate the dynamic changes in cells as fundamental units of life, based on our traditional strengths in stem cell development and cell fate research. Our achievements in single-cell transcriptomics and spatial multi-omics have laid a solid foundation for future in-depth research, establishing a comprehensive research paradigm centered on cell lineages.

2. Center for Biomedical Digital Science

The center’s primary research areas encompass the modeling and simulation of digital biological systems, virtual screening and optimization of novel drugs, digital and disease diagnosis. Additionally, the center is committed to developing innovative bioinformatics tools and computational methods to support cutting-edge biological research and clinical applications.

3. Center for Development and Regeneration

Taking the construction of a large-scale scientific research facility for Human Cell Lineage Atlas Facility as an opportunity, strategically layout the ‘lineage application’: based on the large-scale model of cell lineage, break through new technologies such as stem cell reprogramming, embryo chimerism, gene editing, etc., create miniature, instrumental, and humanized new strains of animal models, seize the commanding heights of xenogeneic organ regeneration technology.

4. Institute of Drug Discovery

IDD focuses on major diseases that seriously threaten human health, such as cancer, diabetes, metabolic diseases, and infectious diseases, and is committed to meeting national major needs in prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. The institute employs cutting-edge technologies in medicinal chemistry, pharmacology, molecular biology, structural biology, stem cell chemical biology, bioinformatics, pharmacokinetics, immunology, pathogen genetic engineering, and synthetic biology to discover and verify new methods, technologies, targets, and mechanisms for drug discovery.

Qualifications and Requirements

1.A Ph.D. in Biology, Biomedical Engineering, Biomedical Data Analysis, Statistics, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, AI biology or related fields, with a strong theoretical foundation and professional knowledge.

2.Experience as an Associate Professor or higher in renowned universities or research institutions; or recognition as a national-level talent or leader in major national projects and research programs.

3.Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire research teams. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary research teams.
