Good Food Market Assistant

8 weeks, June 25th – August 16th 2024 – 35hrs/week  – 17$/hr

The Good Food Markets offer local produce at affordable prices to members of our community. We run several markets each week in different locations within NDG

 

What we are offering: 

• Practical experience in organizational and logistical planning needed to run a produce market and providing customer service;
• Experience working with a welcoming and dynamic team; chance to build confidence and gain autonomy.

 

Responsibilities/Tasks:

• Helping with the setting up and dismantling of the markets, chat with customers, give advice, sell market products, operate the market cash register;
• Participate in various logistical tasks in the food distribution department programs.

 

What we are looking for:

• Comfortable speaking and reading in French and/or English (additional language an asset);
• In good physical shape, able to stand for several hours at a time, able to carry heavy loads; comfortable working outdoors;
• Ability to work efficiently as a member of a team; comfortable interacting with people.

Eligibility and working conditions: 

• This position is offered through the Canada Summer Jobs program. Link to the Eligibility Criterias.
• Supervisor: Melanie Romer (Good Food Market Coordinator)
• Workplace: our markets in NDG (Montreal)
• Schedule: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, including Wednesday and Thursday evenings (up to 7:30 PM). Exact schedule to be discussed.
