An exciting opportunity at the nexus of politics, energy, technology, sustainability, international relations: full-time manager working to promote Access to Energy in Washington, DC – Schneider Electric will have an opportunity for a new hire to work in Washington, DC within the government relations team to support the global Access to Energy team by strengthening partnerships and collaboration with key institutions engaged in the development, including USAID, the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund and many other key stakeholders and organizations. Schneider Electric’s Access to Energy social business aims to provide clean and reliable energy to people currently deprived of that simple right, primarily in Africa and Asia. The company’s target is to impact 100M people by 2030. The intent of this role is to: develop strong relationships with the relevant US stakeholders; identify relevant projects that promote access to energy as early as possible; prescribe our value proposition; and develop meaningful partnerships to increase our impact in the field.
In this role, the strategic account manager will be responsible for internal and external activity, including the following:
- Develop, refine, and communicate external materials to educate on Schneider Electric’s Access to Energy efforts
- Actively collaborate with Schneider Electric Access to Energy teams in countries to:
- Understand Access to Energy strategy and deployment program
- Map US stakeholders present in the field
- Map funding streams and programs funding A2E priorities
- Lead the Access to Energy communication plan towards these strategic accounts and partnerships
- Actively collaborate with Schneider Electric North American Government Relations team to:
- Grow and strengthen relationships with Access to Energy stakeholders in the United States
- Develop key materials, policy positions, and engagement strategy needed to strengthen Schneider’s reputation, brand and thought leadership role on Access to Energy in the USA
- Promote Access to Energy mission (100M by 2030) by collaborating with key organizations and stakeholders who fund and execute the relevant access/aid programs, such as the World Bank, USAID, State Department, International Monetary Fund, and relevant NGOs or implementing partners
- Stay closely aligned to broader government relations strategy and messaging and regularly brief VP of Government Relations on progress and developments
- Leverage VP of Government Relations and visiting C-Suite leaders visiting to strengthen above strategy and goals
- Conduct in-depth analyses of accounts to identify key success factors
- Develop and execute strategic accounts plans, including partnerships
Qualifications:
- Strong internal and external communication skills
- Willingness to rapidly learn and develop plans to further Schneider Electric’s Access to Energy efforts globally
- Strong interpersonal and public speaking skills
- Strong communication, negotiation, and planning skills
- Interpersonal skills
- BA or MA in Public Policy, International Affairs and with focus in development preferred
- 3+ years experience of project management in that field, familiarity to with US aid programs or development
- Eventually available for business trips to access to energy countries (Africa or Asia)
- Strong values and motivation towards corporate social responsibility or Environment Social Governance (ESG) initiatives
