About the role

As the GP Advisor for Family Safety, you will be responsible for providing clinical input and advise into the development, establishment and delivery of Capital Health Network’s (CHNs) Family Domestic and Sexual Violence (FDSV) Pilot Program.

The Family Domestic Sexual Violence Program is a new focus area for CHN. As part of this role, you will support the Family Safety Team in developing an integrated model of support for primary care providers, including GPs, to be able to appropriately recognise, respond and refer people at the risk of, or experiencing, family, domestic, sexual violence and child sexual abuse. The role will facilitate embedding GP perspective into the development, implementation and evaluation of the pilot to ensure relevance to primary health care professionals and the primary health care sector.

The role is part-time (0.2 FTE) focusing on the FDSV Program, with a potential opportunity increase hours to 0.4 FTE to work on both FDSV and the Initial Assessment and Referral project.

About the team

The Health System Integration (HSI) Team is responsible for coordinating projects and program areas centred around improvement and integration of the health system to actively respond to the needs of the ACT community.

The Family Safety Team sits within the HSI team and is responsible for undertaking the strategic planning, design, implementation and maintenance of the FDSV Pilot initiatives aimed at enabling system integration across sectors and improving service navigation for victim-survivors of FDSV in the ACT.

See yourself in our team

You will be responsible for supporting appropriate responses to FDSV and making key contributions to the development of training resources and quality improvement activities. While you will work within the Family Safety Team, your strong interpersonal skills will support positive engagement with local primary health care professionals, as well as collaboration with other GP Advisors across PHN FDSV Pilot sites to promote and deliver pilot activities and advocate for the role of primary care in responding to FDSV.

You will work closely with key internal and external stakeholders at both local and national level, to identify opportunities to enhance the quality of primary health care services in response to FDSV and inform the development of key strategic activities.

As part of working at an innovative organisation, you will also contribute to process improvement and broader CHN projects and initiatives. You will have an opportunity to work closely across all business units within CHN.
