Summary

Rackham Graduate School seeks three (3) temporary program assistant/residential life leaders to serve as active and visible staff members responsible for supporting the residential life component of all the Summer Research Opportunity Program (SROP), The Michigan Humanities Emerging Research Opportunity Program, and the Rackham Aspiring Fellows (RAF) Program. This includes pre-arrival administration, supporting students? safety and well-being, facilitating community-building, documentation of best practices, and program evaluation. These positions will be supervised by the Rackham Academic Program Manager for Outreach.

These temporary program assistant positions will be performing pre- and post-program work. Dates of employment are May 1-22, 2024 and August 3- August 31, 2024 (20 hours a week).  See note below regarding employment during program dates.

PLEASE NOTE:  There are three Resident Advisor positions associated with this posting, which will include living in the residence hall with program participants from May 23 through August 2, 2024.  The Resident Advisor position includes a stipend and room & board.  Applicants must be available for both this temporary Program Assistant position and the Resident Advisor position in order to be considered. PLEASE NOTE: Late afternoon and early evening work will be required; possible weekend work may be required with advance notice. Schedule varies based on the needs of programs. 

Responsibilities*

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

Assisting academic program manager with the execution of program content; working closely with Rackham staff, departmental faculty, and other university administrators to plan event logistics; facilitating cohort building activities; meeting with participants individually and in small groups; assisting students with graduate school applications; one-on-one meetings with student participants; assisting with the development of program evaluation tools; facilitating communication between staff and participants; anticipating and resolving participant problems or concerns; completing related administrative tasks such as drafting documents, data entry, data management, and attending weekly meetings.
