About the Role
The Graduate Research Officer is a member of the Academic Support Office Graduate Research Team responsible for providing advice and support to graduate researchers and their academic supervisors throughout the entire candidature lifecycle from initial enquiry to graduation. The role works across a range of processes including selection, admissions, enrolment, candidature variations, milestone management, progress reporting, infrastructure support, Graduate Research committee support, and the implementation of student support initiatives aimed at improving the overall student experience.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Provide high-quality and timely advice and support to graduate researchers, academic staff and stakeholders in graduate research matters;
- Deliver a range of administrative tasks including managing various graduate research processes, responding to enquires, supporting committees, overseeing project administration and producing reports;
- Administer the faculty’s graduate research course and scholarship applications including assessing applications, scoring scholarships and supporting the outcome process;
- Monitor graduate research milestones, including reviewing commencement forms, pre-confirmation, confirmation, progress reviews and completion reports, updating student records based on the review outcomes and following up overdue reports;

You will bring highly developed interpersonal skills to navigate a dynamic and complex environment, effectively engaging with diverse stakeholders. Additionally, your exceptional planning and time-management abilities, coupled with the capacity to provide guidance to graduate researchers and academic staff based on relevant policies and procedures, are essential for success in this role.
You will also have:
- A tertiary qualification or a mix of education and relevant experience.
- Well-developed problem-solving skills and judgement to analyse problems and provide appropriate solutions.
- Ability to interpret and apply complex policies and procedure to structure and present information clearly and consistently to a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Experience in providing committee support including minute taking, preparing papers and communications.
