Overview:

The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), a renowned humanitarian organization, is recruiting a Graduation Approach Lead for its BHA-funded resilience and food security activity in Somalia, set to begin in September 2024. This pivotal role will guide the implementation of a graduation approach aimed at alleviating poverty among ultra-poor communities affected by displacement. The ideal candidate will possess significant experience in designing, leading, and applying research to poverty reduction projects using the graduation approach in various contexts, with a focus on urban settings and empowering women and youth. What you will do

Program Strategy and Implementation:

  • Collaborate with consortium members to refine the project’s graduation approach strategy, ensuring the sequencing and integration of interventions are tailored to the unique needs of the target communities.
  • Develop innovative and sustainable models for poverty reduction, focusing on creating long-term economic opportunities for youth and women in urban contexts.

Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration:

  • Forge strong partnerships with local governments, NGOs, and community leaders to foster a supportive environment for program initiatives.
  • Facilitate regular stakeholder meetings to gather input and ensure alignment of program goals with community needs and expectations.

Research and Innovation:

  • Lead the design of research methodologies alongside the learning lead and learning partner, focusing on assessing the impact and scalability of the graduation approach.
  • Analyze research outcomes to identify trends, challenges, and opportunities for program enhancement.

Capacity Building:

  • Design and conduct targeted training sessions and workshops for staff, partners, and community representatives on effective implementation of the graduation approach.
  • Develop resources and tools to support the ongoing learning and development of team members and partners.

Monitoring and Learning:

  • Contribute to establishing robust monitoring systems to track program progress, beneficiary impact, and the effectiveness of interventions.
  • Regularly review and analyze program data to inform strategic adjustments and improvements.

Donor Compliance and Reporting:

  • Coordinate closely with the MEL team to ensure accurate and timely reporting of program activities and outcomes to BHA and other stakeholders.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of BHA’s compliance requirements and RFSA guidelines to ensure adherence in all aspects of the program.

What you will bring

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in International Development, Social Sciences, Economics, or related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in implementing poverty reduction projects using the graduation approach in at least two different contexts.
  • Proven experience with youth and women’s livelihood projects in urban settings.
  • Familiarity with BHA funding mechanisms, especially RFSA projects.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong leadership and strategic planning abilities.
  • Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
  • Ability to work in diverse and challenging environments.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
