Summary:

The Office of the Vice President for Research is in search of a Grant Accounting/Financial Coordinator to join the Research Administration Team.
As a Grant Accounting/Financial Coordinator, you will be responsible for the reporting requirements of the division, as well as maintaining data integrity across technology platforms. In coordination with the leadership of the Research Administration team, the coordinator will work with other units across the university based on reporting needs, including data from the Temple University Hospital System and Fox Chase Cancer Center.

The coordinator handles the specialized reporting needs of Research Administration. The coordinator prepares quarterly and annual filings, including but not limited to the NSF Survey, the Fringe Benefit Rate proposal, and the Federal Financial Reports. On an annual basis, the Special Projects Coordinator assist with the preparation of the OMB Circular A-133 formatted financial report.

Essential Functions:

•    Completes quarterly financial statement memo entries and whenever possible records entries to the Research Administration’s control accounts directly to the general ledger (i.e. netting receivables, indirect revenues).
•    Completes monthly reconciliations of grant related asset and liability accounts, including Grant Cast Receipt Clearing (99000001-2186)
•    Submits reconciliations quarterly to the Director of Finance and Accounting (Post Award) for review and submission to General Accounting.
•    Assist Research Administration staff with reporting needs and provides suggestions to process updates to management when necessary.
•    Coordinates Uniform Guidance compliance activates including the preparation of the Schedule of Federal Awards, Data Collection Form and EZ Audit. 
•    Completes timely and accurately, the quarterly federal financial report (FFR) for any grants with this reporting requirement.
•    Completes the Annual NSF Survey and Annual NIH Survey.
•    Prepares data related to rate calculations including the annual fringe rate, periodic Facilities and Administration (F&A) rate, service center rates, and IRB fees.
•    Develops financial reports and queries using the Cognos Report Studio.

Required Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field and a minimum of three years experience related to finance/accounting. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills and Abilities: 
*Demonstrated ability to utilize online financial systems. 
*Demonstrated computer skills, and advanced proficiency with MS Office Suite, including advanced spreadsheet and database software skills. 
*Demonstrated analytical skills, and ability to work with large financial data sets. 
*Excellent communication, customer service and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to interact with a diverse constituent population.  
*Demonstrated organizational and prioritization skills, along with the ability to be task- and detail-oriented. 
 
Preferred: 
*Experience using Banner ERP system (Research Accounting and Grants Billing modules), Cognos, SQL, and Info Ed strongly preferred. 

This position requires a background check.

 

This position is assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
