Position Overview – Grant & Data Manager (Impact Manager)
We are looking for someone who wants to help us change lives and end poverty, is passionate about nonprofit philanthropy, and loves growing and strengthening organizations. Specifically, the right person for this position will oversee, strengthen, and provide hands-on management of DA’s grant management program. The Grant & Data Manager (GDM) will also provide strategic analysis, insight, and support to DA’s executive leadership team. Initially, you will be DA’s principal grant writer, creating new grant submissions and ensuring compliance by submitting interim reports for our existing philanthropic partners. Your skills and expertise in successful grants management will aid our organization in changing lives by securing continuous, sustainable funding that will keep our organization fiscally sound.
Requirements for this position vary. Prior grant writing and management experience with multidisciplinary grant writing knowledge and a track record with state, federal, and foundation grants is necessary. Additionally, the GDM must possess fantastic people skills, excel at grant writing and detailed grant reporting to philanthropic organizations, be a self-starter who possesses strong time management and database skills, love deepening relationships with team members and philanthropic managers, and want to use those skillsets to help change lives with us, this job is for you. DREAM Alive is an Indianapolis based 501c3 nonprofit that has been serving vulnerable and underserved youth since 2001. Saying it another way, DA addresses racial and economic inequity for youth in Indianapolis, by helping them develop career paths and increasing their wealth opportunities. DA’s 6-year continuum of programming and support is designed to help vulnerable youth develop a career path, develop soft skills, and develop a professional network before high school graduation. The combination of a high school degree, a clear career path, and large professional network, provides vulnerable youth a real opportunity to be the first in their family to break the cycle of poverty.
DA’s programs and services have seen very encouraging measurable results since 2010. In these past 11 years we have seen a 100% high school graduation rate, with 89% of our youth on a career path (accepted to college, trade, or military), and 69% of our youth are accepted to college.

Job Description – Grant & Data Manager
This is a high-growth opportunity position. We are looking for someone who excels at being a self-starter, is relationship driven, is a motivated leader, can manage their own time efficiently and well, can work in a hybrid environment (in-person at various office locations & and remote), is organized, and has an owner mentality.
The GDM will wear multiple hats in our small organization as we continue to grow. The GDM will initially manage our existing grants and be our principal grant writer. The responsibilities include writing/supervising the writing of new grant submissions, meeting grant reporting timelines with quality, compliant reports to philanthropic organizations that have entrusted DA with grant funds, and developing, engaging, and managing our contractual and volunteer grant writers. The GDM will also work with various contract and in-house individuals to design, implement, and execute a grant reporting database through our CRM that will ultimately provide visibility and reporting of all grant activity, and reporting/submission due dates on existing and future grant submissions. The GDM will work closely with the Executive Director and heavily alongside the Accounting and Operations Director to ensure timely and accurate grant reporting data.
Two years’ prior experience in grant management is required. The GDM will report to the Executive Director and work heavily alongside the Operations Director and accounting/records team members.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Under the direction of the Executive Director, collaborates to increase philanthropic giving and deepen partnerships with existing philanthropic partners.
  • Analyze, contribute, and develop philanthropic sustainability strategies with ED.
  • Perform the role of principal grant writer for DA.
  • Lead, train, develop, and engage future and existing part-time employee, contract, and volunteer grant writers.
  • Manage/prepare the meeting of all grant reporting requirements, ensuring philanthropic grant organization compliance.
  • Working with DA team members and Salesforce CRM contract team members, optimize the grant administration process by creating a comprehensive grant management system utilizing Salesforce CRM.
  • Manage, track, and report on grant management-related data.
  • Participate in evaluating the philanthropy team including staff, contract, and volunteer team members.
  • Develop strong partnerships with DA team members to ensure accurate and timely data collection as required to support grant reporting compliance.

Requirements:

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum two years of grant writing experience and track record with state, federal, and philanthropic foundation grants.
