Position Summary
The Grants and Project Manager position connects the District’s programs by supporting the administrative, technical, and outreach staff with deliverable management, grant reporting, budget management, and partnership building. They work closely within the District’s Leadership Team to facilitate the management of grants and projects that address natural resources and community concerns. The Grants and Project Manager is the key point of contact for multiple granting agencies, and they seek out and apply for new funding opportunities.

This position also is the facilitator for the District’s Poop Smart Clark Pollution, Identification, and Correction (PIC) program, a multi-million-dollar project combining funding from multiple local, state, and federal sources. Through education, outreach, and humor, Poop Smart Clark reduces fecal bacteria from livestock, septic, and dog sources in Clark County’s local waterways. The Grants and Project Manager’s crucial role in this program is working directly with technical staff, outreach staff, project partners, and funders to align efforts and resources to achieve project goals and deliverables.

The Grants and Project Manager supports internal organizational coordination and growth by facilitating staff meetings, planning and leading team-building activities, and supporting the District’s diversity, equity, and inclusion development work. The successful candidate excels at grants and project management, particularly in complex funding situations. They are also adaptable, effectively multitask and prioritize, and have outstanding communication skills. The ideal candidate has an aptitude for relationship building, seeks to increase efficiency, and works well in a team and independently. The Grants and Project Manager reports to the Executive Director and may supervise 1-3 direct/indirect reports.

Suggested Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, business management, public administration, natural resources, agriculture, or another relevant field. Applicable paid job experience may be accepted in place of a degree.
  • Three (3) or more years of program/project management, grant management, and grant writing/funding development.
  • Proven successful track record of grants written, funding secured, and projects completed.
  • Experience in project management for team-based and/or complex projects, preferably under state and/or federal grant contracts.
  • Advanced desktop computer literacy and computer software skills, with the ability to use or learn Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Smartsheet, Quickbase, and other technologies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Five (5) or more years of program/project management, grant management, and grant writing/funding development.
  • Exceptional writing skills. Proficient in writing and editing for various circumstances using formal and informal communications.
  • Past success working with diverse partner entities to shepherd complex projects through all project stages.
  • Formal project management training.
  • Experience managing budgets and contracts.
  • Experience facilitating meetings with diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Experience participating in or leading organizational development initiatives.
  • Demonstrated cultural competency and relationship-building skills to develop new partnerships.
  • Demonstrated commitment to, training in, and experience with the practical application of diversity, equity, and inclusion strategies.

Compensation & Benefits

The hourly rate for this position starts at between $31.75 – $33.86, depending on experience. The full salary range is $31.75 – $41.27, with the upper two-thirds of the salary range representing longevity steps.
Benefits include:

  • 100% of premiums paid for medical/dental/vision for the employee; spouse and dependent coverage is available to the employee at their cost.
  • Retirement matched up to 3% after six months of employment.
  • Accrued paid sick leave (8 hours per month), annual leave (starting at 8 hours per month and increasing with length of employment), plus 12 paid holidays per year.
  • Available reimbursement for personal cell phone use (with District phone number) up to $25 per month.
  • Employees may qualify for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program.
