Position Title: Grants Manager & Data Specialist

PURPOSE:

Secure financial support through grant applications and research. Oversee the organization’s data management activities. Manage the Altru database and lead the cross-functional team to maintain and grow institutional data.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in grant writing and data management; Bachelor’s degree in informatics, public administration or related field preferred.
  • Possess strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Creativity, collaboration, and flexibility are required.
  • Able to write successful grant proposals; monitor and report outcomes to funders.
  • Be organized, detail oriented, dependable, able to prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks on time and on budget within a cross-functional and cross-institutional team environment.
  • Experience working with CRM databases; Altru or other Blackbaud products preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

JOB DUTIES:

  • Research potential grant opportunities and assess alignment with the museum’s mission and strategic goals.
  • Develop and write compelling grant proposals, ensuring alignment with funder priorities and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with museum staff to gather necessary information for grant applications.
  • Manage the grant application process from submission to reporting, ensuring compliance with deadlines and requirements.
  • Oversee the organization’s database management system, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Implement data quality standards and protocols to maintain the integrity of the museum’s data.
  • Generate regular reports and analyze complex datasets in support of organizational operations and decision-making processes.
  • Collaborate with staff to identify data needs and provide training on data management best practices.
  • Communicate effectively with funders, providing updates, reports, and acknowledgments as required.
  • Align grant activities with broader fundraising strategies.
  • Maintain a comprehensive grants calendar to track deadlines and deliverables.
  • Proactively identify and address operational challenges that relate to the CRM system.
  • Lead an interdepartmental team to manage the Altru database to set and enforce standards and controls, troubleshoot problems, and develop Standard Operating Procedures to meet departmental and institutional needs; identify knowledge gaps and training opportunities for growth.
  • Support institutional teams in data collection and reporting.
  • Perform all other duties required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Primarily a sedentary office environment with desk, computer, phone, and files. Must be able to reach overhead and handle items approximately 20 lbs. Must be able to move about the entire Minnetrista 40-acre campus. Work schedule flexibility is critical; some work evenings and weekends may be required.
