Overview
This newly created position in the Rotary Regional Office in Sydney supports one of the pillars of Rotary International’s action plan: to increase its impact.
The Grants Officer evaluates and approves District Grant applications from districts in Australia, New Zealand, the Pacific Islands and Philippines. It also reviews grant applications for funding by Rotary Foundation Australia (PBI) Ltd.
This role will also implement a new grant program that specifically targets corporate funding for Rotary projects. It is an opportunity to support Corporates and Rotary clubs in partnering together on projects that provide lasting change in local communities. The main responsibilities of this role are to:
- provide guidance to Rotary members who wish to pursue corporate-funded projects,
- review applications and recommend whether they should be approved and paid, and
- ensure all requisite reports are submitted to stakeholders upon completion.
You Will Have
- Qualifications, preferably tertiary, in Business Management or Administration
- Community project review experience would be an advantage
- Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills in relation to dealing with a diverse and complex range of internal and external stakeholders.

You Will Be Responsible For
- Reviewing and approving compliant District Grant applications from districts in Australia, NZ, Pacific Islands and the Philippines;
- Reviewing PBI Grant applications ensuring that these are in compliance with Rotary’s global grant terms and conditions as well as the PBI criteria set out by Australian regulatory agencies;
- Implementing the Corporate Social Responsibility program pilot in Australia by:
- Reviewing Corporate Grant applications, ensuring that these are in compliance with The Rotary Foundation’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Grants terms & conditions
- Providing guidance and training to project proponents for their applications to adhere to CSR Grants terms & conditions
- Recommending grants for approval and payment
- Monitoring progress/status of projects by maintaining a Project register
- Monitoring completed projects for report submissions to all internal and external stakeholders
- Recommending process improvements as the program is implemented in Australia, noting best practices and to sharing these with other project proponents
