Position description

The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean is one of the five regional Commissions of the United Nations. It was founded in 1948 with the purpose of contributing to the region’s economic and social development. Its mission includes the design, monitoring and evaluation of public policies and the provision of advisory services, expertise, and training to Governments, as well as support for regional and international cooperation and coordination activities. The internship in ECLAC/ILPES/Santiago will last 2 to 6 months (3 months minimum, 6 months maximum), depending on the needs of the Office. Candidates may be selected throughout the posting period, on an “as-needed” basis.

Under the supervision or overall guidance of the Officer in Charge of Training Unit, the internship will provide specific support to the ILPES Training and Knowledge Management area in:

• Content design for courses
• Development and editing of audiovisual materials
• Preparation of reports related to training activities

The internship aims to contribute to the development, editing, and improvement of graphic and audiovisual resources, ensuring high quality standards in the virtual courses and technical assistance activities offered by ILPES.

Qualifications/Special Skills:

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:

• (a) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
• (b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).

The minimum required level of education is a high school diploma. Candidates must be undergraduate students in their final semester or currently pursuing a master’s degree in fields related to:

• Social Sciences
• Graphic Design
• Visual Communication Design
• Educational Technologies

Languages:

• English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
• Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship.
• Fluency in Spanish is also required.

• Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations.
• Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
