icddr,b is a Bangladesh-based international health research institute that strives to solve key public health problems through high-quality scientific research and innovation. icddr,b, as a values-based organization, encourages women and people with disabilities.

Despite global efforts to improve smooth transitions and school readiness through early childhood care and education programmes, children often enter primary school with varying levels of preparedness. This project builds on previous successful work in Bangladesh, Nepal and Tanzania, that focused on the readiness of both children and caregivers to enter the preschool education programme, through an initiative called Every Newborn-Reach Up Early Education Intervention for All Children (EN-REACH). This new project will support the adaptation of the EN-REACH programme to incorporate key components on teacher readiness to facilitate easy transition to pre-primary education (EN-REACH-ED).

The Graphic Designer reporting to the Research Investigator, will be responsible for planning, developing, and testing information, education, and communication (IEC) materials related to inclusive early childhood development and education specially for the children with disabilities and gender issues for community mobilization, with the objective of conducting high-quality research within the guidelines of the research protocol for “Bridging Gaps and Scaling Up: A School Readiness Programme for the Child-Parent-Teacher Triad in Bangladesh” and in alignment with organizational values and guidelines.

Major responsibilities include:

  • Develop ECD/preschool education related IEC materials such as leaflets, brochures, posters, and short films etc;
  • Pilot IEC materials with a sample group of children, caregivers, and teachers in the community of the study area;
  • Develop illustrations for both the existing EN-REACH curriculum and the new EN-REACH ED curriculum;
  • Provide guidance for developing and adapting IEC materials for the partners of Nepal and Tanzania;
  • Script and report writing.

Required qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelor degree in Fine Arts. However, Bachelor in any relevant subject with a Diploma in Graphic Design may also apply;
  • At least 3 years of experience as a Graphic Designer and Animator;
  • Proficient in various operating systems and skilled in using graphic design software;
  • Excellent spoken English and report and script writing skills;
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences, including government officials, district officers, and community members.
