The Climate Pollution Reduction Program (CPRP) is looking to fill a Greenhouse Gas Inventory & Transportation Section Manager (WMS Band 2) position. This position is located in our Headquarters Office in Lacey, WA. Upon hire, you must live within a commutable distance from the duty station.
We are seeking a Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Inventory & Transportation (GHGIT) Section Manager, who will oversee some of the agency’s most innovative and dynamic climate policies, including the Clean Fuel Standard and the Zero Emission Vehicles Program. This position will be engaged in directing and developing major policies, rules, and strategic plans on issues of statewide and national significance to greenhouse gas reduction programs and emissions tracking. Your role will also provide technical and policy guidance to agency senior management, the Governor’s office, senior managers in other government agencies, elected officials, and the regulated community.

In this strategic role, your work must balance competing public demands, priorities for resources, and the need to advance environmental justice, while you weigh the significant risks to the state from the threat of climate change and multi-million-dollar investments by industry and others in response to regulatory requirements.

Program Mission: The Climate Pollution Reduction Program’s (CPRP’s) mission is to implement policies and programs to reduce carbon emissions in the state of Washington so that the state meets its statutory greenhouse gas emission limits. The CPRP focuses long term, requiring creative and strategic decision making for implementation to achieve broad statewide and interstate success reducing carbon emissions in the state of Washington so residents have a healthy environment and climate.
Tele-work options for this position: This position will have flexibility of a hybrid schedule, empowering work from home and office, providing less time in traffic and shrinking your carbon footprint. This position will be eligible for up to an 80% tele-work schedule. Duties
What makes this role unique?
As the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Inventory & Transportation (GHGIT) Section Manager, you will lead the section in providing strategic direction, policy adjustment, and guide the implementation of laws and rules tracking and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The portfolio you will oversee includes the Clean Fuel Standard, Zero Emission Vehicles Program, the GHG Emissions Inventory, and the Comprehensive Climate Action Plan. Your section’s work will ensure regulatory functions are in place so that policies can be implemented smoothly, clearly, and effectively.
Your role is critical to ensure that your team has clear expectations, priorities, and objectives and has the skills, training, and tools to effectively accomplish their work. You will leverage your managerial experience and subject matter expertise to provide solutions that are effective and balance the needs of staff, the public, and decision makers, employing negotiation skills and strategic and multi-disciplinary project planning.
