Grounds Keeper

The Community Rebuilds Campus in Moab, Utah, serves as a hub for various programs that both educate students and support the creation of affordable housing. The Groundskeeper plays a vital role in managing and maintaining the campus, including landscaping and upkeep of campus facilities. The property includes three housing dwellings, (including our beloved student bunkhouse/classroom) and our office. The Groundskeeper position’s ultimate goal is to ensure the campus is well maintained and cared for, and that its appearance is up to par for the neighbors, office visitors, and wider community. The Groundskeeper is encouraged to identify and implement strategies to increase energy efficiency and sustainability throughout the campus. They will report to and work closely with the Program Manager. Responsibilities and benefits are outlined below:

Term

Duration can be negotiated by the Groundskeeper and the needs of the organization. Preference will be given to longer terms.
32 hours per month

Responsibilities

The Program Manager will prioritize tasks within the agreed-upon work exchange hours. Tasks may include the following:

Maintain the Campus

• Weeding, watering, and general landscaping
• Sanding, staining, and painting
• Cleaning and organizing any housing units, office, and grounds
• Taking inventory of tools and furnishings
• Serve as the primary point of contact for campus-related matters
• Respond to maintenance issues and resident needs
• Organize and facilitate deep-cleaning and yard work days with volunteers
• Research and share information to help campus residents conserve resources and improve energy efficiency
• Identify and implement solutions for waste stream management for both residents and staff
• Collaborate on the design and implementation of campus improvements, including landscaping and infrastructure enhancements
• Check the grounds keeper email
• Assist with the ReStore: accepting donations and organizing salvaged materials
