| Sprinkler Installation Tech TEMPORARY POSITION to run from January through September 2024 Essential Functions - Assist/lead a crew – installation of sprinkler mains/systems on new construction projects
- Assure that the systems being installed will pass a water audit at 80% or better
- Maintain safe work zone and ensure safety measures are followed by employees
- Record keeping, time cards
- Assist in winterization preparation of sprinkler systems and mains
- Assist in turning on sprinkler systems and mains in spring
- Participate in Snow Removal
- On call to work within a team scope in assigned snow removal area to clear walks, stairs, roads, plazas, crosswalks and areas, parking lots and, as necessary, athletic fields, in a safe and non-destructive manner
- Safety, Public Relations, Vehicle Maintenance and Inspections ¿ to be followed 100% of the time
- Operate all equipment in a safe and effective manner in order to minimize the risk of injury and property damage
- Deal with campus, , and Church employees/visitors in a professional manner
- Operate and maintain a clean university vehicle
- Perform daily pre- and post-trip inspections
Qualifications: Preferred: 1 year of full-time sprinkler installation and maintenance experience; 3+ years with experience with polyethylene fusion Other skills, abilities, or knowledge needed: - Ability to pass post-offer physical exam
- Good supervising, mentoring, and training skills
- Ability to work courteously with all MTC, temple patrons, and BYU employees
- Ability to respect and adhere to safety guidelines
- Effective record keeping abilities
- Professional attitude, dress, and adherence to the University’s Honor Code
- Working knowledge of sprinkler installation and maintenance
- Ability to operate and maintain heavy equipment, such as track hoe, loader, tractor, skid steer, and dump truck
Additional Qualifications Driving a University Vehicle, Physical Exam Required Employee Class: 3/4 Time (28 hour) Temporary through Sep 2024 Work Location: Provo Campus Environment: Frequent exposure to unfavorable conditions such as all-weather, or working in cramped, very dirty, or unpleasant quarters Physical Exam Required: Y Physical Exam Details: Physical effort represented by frequent handling of medium weight objects (approx. 20-50 lbs.) and materials, or use of medium weight hand tools. May require climbing and working from ladders or in awkward positions.
