About our role

As part of our Digital Transformation journey, we have a newly created opportunity for a Senior Leader to lead our organisation in the adoption and continued roll-out of Agile ways of working.

The purpose of this role is to ensure that The Smith Family has the capabilities, competencies, skills, and practices to optimise its current agile ways of working to deliver strategic outcomes faster, safer, and with more engaged teams.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Delivery of Digital Priorities & Squad Optimisation
  • Process Design and Optimisation to ensure quality and compliance
  • Establishing best practice and long-term vision for Service Automation
  • Leading a team of people managers, building capability and skilling across our Agile teams and squads
  • Ensuring integration of Human-Centred Design principles
  • Business Analysis – Leading BA activities, Quality Assurance and Resource Allocation
  • Leading a team of people managers, building capability and skilling across our Agile delivery function
  • Leading the charge in delivering tangible business outcomes at an accelerated pace

About you

As a highly energetic Senior Leader you are responsible for overseeing teams of agile squads and chapter leads, and providing leadership, vision, and direction for the organisation.

You will oversee the implementation of software engineering initiatives with responsibility for championing best practices and ensuring initiatives achieve business outcomes.

The function you lead will also be responsible for delivering agreed priorities through squads, embedding human-centered design in all facets of digital design and delivery, and maximising speed to value through iteration and optimisation of delivery practices in partnership with your peers.

Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience and at least 5 years in senior leadership role
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Technology, or a related field
  • Agile Certification
  • Running / Leading squads in the context of Digital Delivery
  • Agile Methodology Expertise: Deep understanding of Agile frameworks like Scrum, Kanban, or SAFe.
  • Leadership Experience in building skills and capability, leading a team of managers, and leading diverse teams
  • Strategic Vision: Capability to align Agile initiatives with organisational goals
  • Adaptability: Willingness to pivot strategies based on data and feedback
  • Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication for conveying complex information simply.
  • Decision-Making: Strong analytical and decision-making skills, often in fast-paced environments.
  • Team Development: Skills in coaching and mentoring to foster a high-performance culture.
  • Stakeholder Management: Proficiency in managing expectations and resolving conflicts among team members, senior executives, and clients
