Org. Setting and Reporting
Under the direct supervision of the Security Shift Supervisor and overall direction of the Head Guard/ National Security Officer (NSO).
Responsibilities
The incumbent:
1. Performs the following in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs):
1.1 Screens all vehicles entering and exiting the premises;
1.2 Screens all pedestrians entering and exiting the premises; provides information, issues identification cards and directions to visitors;
1.3 Checks, reports and prevents weapons and or armed actors wishing from entering the UNRWA premises;
1.4 Maintains paper and computer log books, completes shift reports, incident reports and records;
2. Conducts foot-patrols for the purpose of identifying potential malfunction of physical
security measures and intercepting unauthorized persons attempting to enter the premises; as
well as potential security threats to the area of coverage;
3. Reports urgent issues to his/her supervisor and documents all non urgent findings in the shift report;
4. Identifies individuals who remove UNRWA property to ensure that they have property removal permission (i.e. Load Note) and reports violators immediately;
5. Assists in facility evacuation drills, fire drills, emergency/incident response drills, mass casualty drills and readiness drills with local first responders; responds to fires in an appropriate manner; reports fire hazards to his/her supervisor, works and cooperates with assigned fire/floor wardens;
6. Correctly uses security equipment such as computers (Basic computer skills), x-ray machines (walk through and baggage screening equipment), CCTV, communications equipment, etc;
7. Maintains alertness for any potential or actual breaches of security, disturbances or unusual activity and reports these to his/her supervisor;
8. Performs such other duties as may be assigned by her/his supervisor.

Education
1. Successful completion of preparatory education;
2. Successful completion of UNRWA advanced Guards Course or equivalent training for non UNRWA staff
3. Satisfactory UNRWA performance in PERs for the last two years or satisfactory Performance reports or references for non-UNRWA staff from a recognized local business, governmental facility, and/or international organization;

Successful completion of Secondary and higher education.

At least two years of relevant experience in security guard’s duties in UNRWA, or a
recognized local business, governmental facility, and/or international organization is required.

Conditions of service
-Contract Type: Fixed Term Appointment for 3 years; including 1 year probation period, with the possibility of further extension, subject to the availability of funds, satisfactory performance, and continuing need
Grade and Salary: Grade 03 Monthly basic salary USD812.80, payable in JD at UN monthly exchange rate.
Other benefits include:
•Provident Fund contribution (15.2% of basic salary paid by the Agency).
•Dependency allowances (if applicable).
•30 days of annual leave.
•Compulsory medical insurance.

1. The incumbent must be mentally and physically fit;
2. The incumbent must have a clean criminal record;
3. All duties are performed in uniform, however at times the incumbent may be required to
perform duties in civilian clothes
4.Duties may require longer periods of standing;
5. The incumbent is required to perform night-shift duty equal to morning-shift duties and
alternate accordingly.
6. In order to facilitate continuous operations during crises, priority will be given to candidates who live close to the Duty Station.
