Job Duties
1. Woodland Habitat Restoration: Conduct invasive plant species treatment and removal activities. Activities will focus on buckthorn removal in a woodland setting. This will include the use of mechanical clippers, motorized brush cutters, and spot spraying backpacks for herbicide application.
2. Oak Savanna restoration: Spot spraying, planting and seeding activities.
3. Support restoration efforts on culturally significant sites: Installing cultural and medicinal plants on cultural historical sites.
Hours & Travel
30-40 hours per week for 3+ months. (August to early-December) It is important to note that this will be field work within Native American Tribal communities near Redwood Falls, Minnesota (25% of the time) and near Granite Falls, Minnesota (75% of the time). Housing will be provided.
Additional Information
Work in a team of 5-6 habitat restoration specialists to restore oak savanna, prairies, and woodland habitats on culturally sensitive lands. You can select to work 4 longer days and choose between 30-40 hours per week as best fits your schedule. All specialists will be sharing a house located in Granite Falls, MN. We are looking for individuals to begin work immediately. Since this is a short term position health care benefits are not provided.
