Northwest Habitat Management offers restoration and mitigation planting, site maintenance, noxious weed control and related services to restore riparian, prairie and other types of habitats. We work primarily in Skagit and Snohomish counties with occasional work elsewhere in Western Washington.
Job Description
We are hiring two crew members to join our team for the 2024 season. This seasonal position operates on a full time 40 hours per week schedule of 4-10’s starting ASAP-October 1st 2024. Starting pay range is $20-$21 depending on experience.
Crew members will work as a team to achieve restoration management goals for our clients. Tasks include native tree and shrub planting, live staking, mowing and brush cutting, EZJECT lancing, spot spraying, tree tube installation and the preparation and maintenance of new and existing planting sites.
After a 45-day probationary period, new employees are eligible to take the Commercial Operator pesticide exam administered by the WSDA. Upon receiving a passing grade of 80 or above on Laws and Safety and one relevant endorsement exam (Aquatics and/or T&O and ROW), the employee will receive a $1.00/hr pay increase and a $100 bonus.
Required Qualifications
- 18 years of age or older
- Valid drivers license
- Clean driving record (must be insurable)
- Criminal background check
- Ability to work on uneven ground and steep slopes
- Ability to communicate respectfully in the work environment.
- Experience working outdoor team-based jobs
- Familiarity with various tools including weed whackers, drills, pruners, hand saws, etc.
- Ability to lift up to 40lbs comfortably.
- Basic understanding of native and non-native plants
- Willingness to use herbicide
- Ability to follow oral and written directions
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with power and hand tools
- Familiarity with typical Northwest native plants and their ecosystems
