The team

The Hardware Asset Management team is responsible for the oversight of the full lifecycle of hardware assets for the University, which includes procurement, storage, distribution, movement and disposal/recycling of assets. The team is critical to ensuring that IT Services is optimising the value, costs and risks associated with the University’s hardware asset estate. Whilst providing great customer support, technical excellence, and a friendly supportive team ethos.

The role

The Hardware Asset Management Analyst role is key in supporting the day-to-day operations of the Hardware Asset Management function. This role will involve providing a customer-focused service, primarily concentrating on validation and testing; procurement and logistics; and the deployment of end user equipment. In order to meet and respond quickly to University demands for hardware services, it is critical that the Analysts are multi-skilled so that they are able to flex across the different functional areas within the team.

The person
The successful candidate will:

Use customer service techniques to ensure that full account is taken of customers’ real and stated needs in the delivery of IT services.

Identify gaps in the available information required to understand a problem or situation, and gather more information as necessary, seeking help from colleagues as required.

Have experience of working in IT, preferably within the domain of hardware asset management, including equipment installation.

Be familiar with administering and managing an asset management database to monitor and manage the asset lifecycle, including provisioning, deployment, repair and decommissioning.

Have awareness of IT Service Management (ITSM) principles and an ability to demonstrate a customer-first approach to ensure a valuable service offering.

Be capable of generating usage reports/statics to help inform hardware asset estate and management.

Establish relationships with people from a variety of backgrounds, possessing effective and sensitive communication skills across different societies and cultures.

Please be aware that due to the nature of the work of the Hardware Asset Management team, you will be required to work on-site the majority of the time.
