Harmful Cyanobacteria Blooms – $20.00/hr

Express Employment is searching for a Harmful Cyanobacteria Blooms Tech  to assist with a seasonal project. This position requires experience with field data collection and data management.

Season is June 1-November 30th (4 month minimum commitment and dates are flexible) 

Job Duties:

• Harmful Cyanobacterial Bloom Program: Assist with implementation, including collecting cyanobacteria and cyanotoxin samples, reviewing satellite imagery for bloom detection, identifying cyanobacteria in samples, data management, evaluation, and researching detection/management methods.
• Waterborne Pathogen Notification: Assist with the Public Notification Process, including water quality data evaluation and data management.
• Water Quality Standards: Assist with surface water quality standards development such as: researching and evaluating federally recommended or other state water quality criteria to protect designated uses; providing GIS support; conducting literature reviews to assist with development of water quality criteria; and compiling and evaluating water quality data

What we look for:

• Possess, or be working towards, a bachelor’s degree in Natural Sciences (e.g., Biology, Geology, Watershed Management, or related field)
• Familiarity with data collection/management and computer software (including Microsoft Word/Excel and GIS, preferred)
• Professional written and verbal communication
• Strong attention to detail

Physical/Working Conditions:

• Must be able to walk in wet, cold, and muddy conditions to collect samples.
