Overview of position
Role objectives
The ISM will be responsible for the implementation of contractual requirements and ensures full compliance with the technical contract specifications (both concerning the human resources and equipment).
The ISM will be responsible for the management and coordination of the security contract.
Project reporting
Responsible
for all formal reporting,
Follows
instructions as determined in the Delegation’s Standard Operating Procedure
(SOP) and in the security company’s Standard Operating Procedures for
International Security Managers / International Security Supervisors.
Responds
to and complies with specific direct instructions given by the Head of
Delegation (HOD) or other Delegation security actors.
Supervise
the Close Protection Supervisor (CPS), the Security Operations Supervisor
(SOS), the Security Operations Room Supervisor (SORS), the Security Information
Analysts (SIA) and oversee the functions of their sub-divisions, as well as the
Qualified Nurses (QN) and the Auto-Technician / Mechanic.
Key competencies
Military
or police experience, minimum rank of NATO rank OR8 and above or OF2 and above
or equivalent is required. In the absence of this requirement, consideration
may be given to accumulated similar experience in the private security sector.
Demonstrates
composure under pressure in high-risk environments.
Citizen of an EU
member state.
Excellent
knowledge of radio equipment and radio operational procedures.
At
least level B2 of English.
Fully
IT-literate in Word and Excel.
Valid
EU driving licence categories C, C1; Certified as trained in armoured vehicle
driving, could be an asset.
Excellent
knowledge in first aid and trauma (First Person on the Scene (FPOS)) and firefighting,
as attested by relevant certificates.
If
armed, excellent knowledge of the national legislation of Afghanistan and the
internationally recognised governing principles (i.e. legality, necessity,
proportionality and accountability) on the use of physical force and firearms.
If
armed, excellent skills in handling firearms, attested by a relevant
certificate.
Team management
Thorough
knowledge of the country’s security environment with experience during the last
5 years in Afghanistan.
Experience in overseeing a security service
contract of at least 20 people proven by a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a
similar international position in a country with a volatile security
environment, preferably with diplomatic missions or representations of
international organisations, attested by reference letters from current and/or
former employers.
Further information
Clean criminal record, attested by a certificate of good character issued by the competent authorities.
Must hold a valid personal security clearance or receive a valid personal security clearance within the first nine months after deployment.
Excellent health, mental and physical condition, be able to prove
a medical certificate.
