GENERAL DESCRIPTION: 

The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is seeking six (3) month positions that will assist with fish culture duties, facility maintenance, and grounds keeping at the Wyoming Game and Fish Department’s fish hatcheries.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed in the job level.

  • Duties will include daily fish culture routines (tank cleaning & feeding), fish distribution and stocking, fish spawning, and a variety of other fish culture activities.
  • Duties will also include work maintaining the facility grounds, equipment, and buildings.

Qualifications

PREFERENCES/**AGENCY REQUIREMENTS: 

Preference may be given to those with the equivalent of a high school diploma and to those who attach a resume with their on-line state application.

**Agency requires that the successful applicant possess a valid driver’s license.

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Ability and knowledge of grounds care (mowing & trimming), small engine maintenance and operation, operating 4WD vehicles, painting, and use of various small tools.

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • This position requires working in a variety of environmental conditions, using a variety of tools, and equipment, and some occasional lifting may be required.

NOTES:

  • FLSA: Non-exempt
  • Positions will run from May 16, 2024 to August 15, 2024.  Hatcheries include: Auburn Fish Hatchery, Boulder Fish Rearing Station, Clark’s Fork Fish Hatchery, Daniel Fish Hatchery, and the Story Fish Hatchery.
  • Position will run from April 1, 2024 to June 30, 2024.  Hatcheries include: Speas Fish Hatchery.
  • Housing is provided at no charge to the employee, except for the  Story Hatchery position.
  • Applicants should be interested in and pursuing a career in fisheries, wildlife, or resource management.
  • No previous fish culture experience is required.
