HCCSP Support Officer
Grade 5, £29,459 – £32,765 pro rata (inclusive of local weighting) depending on experience
4 days per week (part-time working and job share considered) = 30 hours per week,
Permanent
Based in Hertford with the option for home working up to 50% of working hours.

 About Us

East Herts Council manages the recruitment and payroll of the two dedicated staff members of
the Hertfordshire Climate Change and Sustainability Partnership (HCCSP) which consists of all
10 district and borough councils, the County Council, and the Local Enterprise Partnership in
Hertfordshire.

The Council therefore is recruiting to the important role of Support Officer of HCCSP. HCCSP is
a strategic group which acts as the lead partnership organisation for partners to collaborate
and identify joint work programmes on environmental, climate change and wider sustainability
issues. It is thus the leading public sector group tackling climate change in the county.

The HCCSP Support Officer will play a pivotal role in supporting and promoting the work of the
Partnership and that of the Hertfordshire Sustainability Officers Group (HSOG) which reports
into the Partnership, reporting to the Lead Projects Officer, who is also employed through East
Herts District Council.

There is so much to do!

Some of the main responsibilities include:

  • Actively work in partnership with all internal and external stakeholders (members,
    officers, and senior management of all partners as well as community and business stakeholders
    across the county and beyond) for the benefit of the Partnership, progressing its 6 action
    plans and its partners’ sustainability objectives
  • Undertake general administration duties for HCCSP, including administrating meetings for
    the Partnership. This will include organising attendance and room (or virtual) bookings, take
    minutes / notes, ensuring actions are accurately recorded and appropriate documentation is
    circulated.
  • Assist in hosting engagement events as required (currently in region of four per year),
    including supporting the HCCSP Manager to include distributing invitations and guest list,
    managing invoicing, menus, conference planning and preparation.
  • Coordinating initiatives identified by the HCCSP or HSOG
  • Keeping abreast of sustainability priorities across Hertfordshire and nationally and
    supporting regular sharing of these to members and officers

About You

This role will suit a conscientious and proactive administrator who is interested in developing
stakeholder and project management skills in the sustainability sphere. If you are an
enthusiastic team player with a capacity to work independently where necessary, have an eye for
detail and an ability to keep stakeholders aware of their actions and deadlines, then this role
is for you.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be up for the challenge of supporting HCCSP and HSOG to deliver Hertfordshire’s
    sustainability ambitions
  • Act with confidence and credibility when working with colleagues from a wide range of
    organisations
  • Have excellent administrative abilities
  • You may be able to demonstrate a general understanding / appreciation of environmental
    sustainability, climate change and biodiversity issues in the UK
  • Be able to use common applications such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel and similar to present
    the Partnership’s work and maintain consistency and a positive reputation.
  • You may also have experience in areas such as Climate Change, Sustainability, Partnerships,
    Environment, Council, Environmental Sustainability, Biodiversity
