Job Summary Reporting to the Executive Director, Athletics & Recreation, the Head Coach, Women’s Volleyball will be responsible for all areas of leadership related to the Varsity Women’s Volleyball Program. In carrying out the responsibilities, the Head Coach will be expected to represent Dalhousie University to the highest standards of personal and professional conduct and will be accountable for complying with all AUS, U SPORTS and Dalhousie rules, regulations and policies.
Key Responsibilities
  • Achieve satisfactory team and student-athlete performance as evaluated by results achieved in AUS and U SPORTS competition.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate both team and individual technical, tactical, physical and psychological preparation plans, as well as a recruitment and retention program for student-athletes.
  • Manage a budget, adhering to institutional financial policies.
  • Support departmental fundraising initiatives, including the coordination of volleyball camps to raise funds for the women’s volleyball program.
  • Through the development of a communications plan, promote the women’s volleyball program with alumni and the surrounding community.
Note Due to operational requirements, the successful applicant is required to work in-person on campus.
Required Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant field with a minimum of five years’ experience coaching high-performance volleyball and administering elite level athletes and programs (or equivalent combination of training and experience).
  • Competition Development Certification (High Performance 1).
  • The successful candidate must have completed or be in the process of completing the NCCP “Comp Dev” Coach Education Program and Making Ethical Decisions (MED).
  • The ability to work within a university environment and with the public at large.
  • Must possess superior organizational skills, and the ability to recruit throughout Canada and a desire to build alumni support.
  • Commitment to the total development of the student-athlete.
Assets
  • Experience coaching female volleyball players.
  • Coaching experience at the University, College, Canada Games or Provincial Team level.
