Position description
As the Director of Communications and Marketing Strategy at World Centric, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our brand narrative and driving engagement. World Centric is a product company, using sales revenues to create social and environmental impact. How to bridge these two different aspects of what we do for communication and marketing is a challenge. The ideal candidate will craft messaging and strategy which can synergize these two aspects of product sales and impact, with authenticity and transparency. We are not looking for marketing hyperbole, but down to earth authentic messaging to drive sales, impact and our brand proposition. You’ll lead a team of five marketing, communication, design, and resource recovery professionals, infusing persuasive and authentic communication into every aspect of our business. From crafting compelling written content to being a spokesperson in media relations, you’ll innovate approaches to increase brand awareness, sales and impact.
Responsibilities:
- Establish and Drive Strategy:
- Develop and execute multi-channel communications and marketing campaigns to advocate for the company’s environmental and social initiatives, products, and values.
- Drive brand awareness and engagement through innovative approaches to marketing and communication.
- Collaborate with the Director of Impact to develop engaging education communications to increase awareness and understanding of social and environmental issues among our target audience.
- Team Leadership:
- Lead a team of marketing, communication, design, and resource recovery professionals inspiring collaboration and creativity. Currently 5 individuals on this team.
- Oversee all communications materials with a persuasive touch, crafting messages that resonate with our customers.
- Uphold the brand voice across various platforms
- Oversee the creation of compelling presentation decks, blog articles, and digital, video, audio, and printed content that not only informs but influences.
- Media Relations and Engagement:
- Manage media relations by cultivating relationships with journalists, influencers, and community leaders.
- Expand a network of media contacts, using communication to amplify our message.
- Collaborate and coordinate with other stakeholders in our industry to find solutions to collective challenges.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Utilize data-driven metrics to optimize performance and inform communication strategies.
- Proven experience in senior roles within purpose-driven organizations or campaigns with a commitment to environmental sustainability and social responsibility. Minimum 5 years experience in a senior marketing/communications role with at least 1 year of those in a purpose driven organization.
- Bachelor’s degree required with marketing or communications emphasis preferred
- Excellent writer and verbal communicator that can generate authentic and persuasive content across diverse platforms. Writing samples are required
- Experience as a spokesperson for a previous company
- Demonstrated understanding of current environmental challenges, climate change issues, and sustainability practices on a global scale. Preference for understanding of the impacts of commercial composting, food waste reduction, plastic pollution, etc
- Familiarity with national and regional environmental regulations and legislation affecting the packaging industry is a plus.
- Expertise in developing and implementing multi-channel communication and marketing campaigns.
- Strong leadership skills with a track record of leading successful marketing, communication and design, teams
- Experience in managing media relations, building networks with influencers and community leaders.
- Demonstrated ability to create impactful digital, video, audio, and print content. Examples are encouraged
- Track record of making data-driven decisions to optimize engagement.
- Previous involvement in a company’s presence at industry events, trade shows, and conferences
Location: Priority will be given to candidates that meet qualifications and are able to come to our Sonoma County location on occasion, but candidates from any US state will be considered.

USD $140,000 – USD $200,000 Yearly Salary
