The Head of Communications leads the strategic use of stories, photos and videos to help grow our audience and inspire action, and the delivery of high quality communications strategies for a range of organisational initiatives, including clinical programs, community awareness, staff recruitment, brand and reputation management, and fundraising campaigns.

What You Will Be Doing
The Head of Communications is a key leadership role within the Corporate Communications and Philanthropy Department. The role’s primary responsibility is to ensure Peninsula Health creates exceptional and engaging content to help achieve our brand and fundraising objectives, as well as delivering engaging and targeted internal communications. This includes responsibility for all corporate communications (website, social media, email, print, publications), internal communications (intranet, campaigns, newsletters, staff meetings) public relations and events, government relations, media and issues management.
The Head of Communications leads a high performing team consisting of a Communications Specialist, Communications Officer and Digital Designer. The role reports to the Director, Corporate Communications & Philanthropy.
What You Need
We anticipate you will have:
- Minimum five years’ experience in strategic communications and/or journalism, marketing and/or brand development in a large organisation
- Experience working at a strategic level in communications within an organisation
- Demonstrated ability to lead a team towards goal achievement, including experience with coaching, reflective practice and a learning approach to inspire effective performance
- Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to relate to a diverse range of people from different backgrounds and at various levels of seniority
- Proven ability to build strong and effective working relationships to deliver outcomes
- Proven ability to write engaging content for all channels, with a strong editorial lens
- High level understanding of social media, SEO, audience growth, website and intranet management and analytics
- Current driver’s licence

*Please refer to salary circular Victorian Public Health Sector (Health And Allied Services, Managers And Administrative Workers) Single Interest Enterprise Agreement 2021 – 2025 for salary range. Sub-grading will be based on years of experience.
