THE OPPORTUNITY
- Salary: $142,002 per annum pro rata + 11% super + annual leave loading
- Time Fraction: Full Time, 1.0 EFT.
- Location: Chadstone campus.
- WWCC: Appointment to this position is dependent on obtaining and maintaining an ‘employee’ Working with Children Check.
- Police Check: Appointment to this position is dependent on obtaining a Police Check. (if applicable)
- Position Status: Ongoing contract of employment, with a 6-month qualifying period.
The Faculty of Health Science, Community and Social Studies provides a progressive, innovative, and supportive teaching environment with strong industry links. We are seeking an outstanding individual to provide educational and strategic leadership as the Head of Department – Community & Social Studies. You will be an experienced educational professional and leader with high-level educational and operational knowledge necessary to support the achievement of educational and business objectives. You will have the ability to inspire and engage both our student and staff community.
The Successful Candidate will be managing the department’s compliance requirements and ensuring course delivery and assessment are per the vocational education and training standards.
In addition, the position requires identifying and implementing Vocational Education and Training (VET) programs and qualifications to enable innovative and flexible delivery modes, facilitate strategic collaborations with industry and other key stakeholders, and drive the implementation of business strategies for student recruitment and promotions are some of the key deliverables of this role.
ABOUT YOU
- An approved degree in a vocational area relevant to the operations of, and courses offered by, the department or approved equivalent tertiary qualifications.
- An approved course of adult teacher training accredited at the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Level 6 or above.
- The Disability and Community Services Sector is preferred.
- Current issues and developments in the VET sector and in relevant industries served by the Institute and supported by the department.
- the effective management and strategic leadership of a teaching department within a large education institution, including associated financial responsibility
- effectively leading and managing change
- the development and maintenance of effective industry relationships and partnerships
- the development, implementation and evaluation of educational programs
- Committed to excellence in teaching and learning
- Driven to provide optimal student experiences
