The purpose of this role is to act as trusted, strategic advisor to the Central GE members and Group and Banner Directors helping to define the long-term technology roadmap, and a thought partner to the Leaders and the functional Boards on emerging technology and the role it will play in delivering future revenue streams.

The Head of Enterprise Product will ensure robust plans are put in place partnering the Group, Digital, and Banner teams to ensure efficient and effective solutions and assuring that the technology roadmap is delivered at the right cost working seamlessly with the Group and Banner teams.

What’s the job?

The role will hold a strong understanding of both project and product methodologies for technology development, acting as an advisor and implementor of appropriate approaches in each business domain, as well as providing some support to the Chief Product Officer and Product Chapter.

The role will ensure delivery of tech projects, take ownership for tech-driven business change alongside service quality and the management and optimisation of tech costs.

Role Accountabilities

  • Defines the Group Functions product strategy and multi-year roadmap. Sets annual & quarterly prioritised Group functions product roadmap in line with business strategy and objectives. Group Functions includes People & Culture, Value & Finance, Offer & Sourcing, Supply & Logistics, and Property portfolios
  • Prioritise group functions demand for new technology initiatives ahead of next planning cycle, using project and product management methodologies depending on need
  • Accountable for overall end-to-end product strategy, design, outcomes delivery, and retirement for Enterprise product domains
  • Partner as functional expert to advise the group functions executive team on strategic roadmap and technical decisions. Technology and/or business process experience in related areas would be a benefit
  • Brings an outside-in perspective to lead Group best practice identification and sharing across Group and Banners
  • Creating a product and agile culture in our ways of working and prioritisation
  • Leads the Enterprise Products domains and teams with the Group Product & Platform team, reporting to Chief Product Officer and serving as a leader of the product organization in Kingfisher Technology. Builds effective working relationships with colleagues in Engineering, Architecture, Data, and other Tech teams
  • Balances cost and benefits for maximized value for Group and Banner teams
  • Support the preparation of strategic Product & Platform topics for the Technology Leadership and Executive Leadership team
  • Improving the functions ongoing processes and organising procedures to ensure efficiency and productivity through the Product Chapter
  • Support the Product & Platform communications plan assisting with the preparation and dissemination of materials.

What you’ll bring

Required Skills & Experience:

The ability to interact with top tier management and broader team to provide inspirational thought leadership and build positive relationships with the senior management team to deliver change and business outcomes

Established experience and expertise across all the Product fields, including leading strategic direction & delivery of all stages of product management from discovery to retirement. Proven experience of building high performance, delivery focused & data-driven product teams both with and without direct line management.

Proven product management leader including delivering technical products in a hybrid legacy and cloud-based technology estate and multiple development approaches such as Agile, Waterfall, and Kanban/Scrum. Sound understanding of the technology industry, markets, trends, emerging technologies, and their implications for retail organisations

Proven experience of successful delivery of large, scaled technical change in a matrixed organisation. Experience of aligning action plans and facilitating sharing of best practice across multiple remote teams, and efficiently implementing change in a large organisation

A holistic problem solver who is able to extract logic, insights and meaningful conclusions from complex business problems and transformational strategic projects and convey sophisticated commercial and technical challenges in a user-friendly way
