The award-winning ghd tools are used by 200,000 stylists around the world and sold in 30+ countries and more than 45,000 premium salons.Renowned for game changing innovation and superior performance, at ghd we are on a mission to transform the lives of women via the power of a good hair day!ABOUT THIS ROLEThis role will be based in our Leeds office, and we offer a hybrid working pattern of 3 days in the office and 2 days WFH.As a senior leader in the Supply Chain and Operations team, you will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing our entire logistics network, ensuring the efficient movement of products from suppliers to kitting houses, customers, and consumers across the globe. You will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing strategic initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and improve overall logistics performance. The role splits down into 2 main strategic areas:

  • Global Freight (Ocean, Air, Road), logistics & warehousing
  • Global Kitting Operations (In Line Kitting at Manufacturers and dedicated 3rd party Kitting centers)

You will be expected to drive world class performance and deliver year on year efficiency improvements in the following areas;Freight, Logistics & Warehousing

  • Develop and execute the global logistics & warehouse strategy aligned with ghd’s global ‘multi-channel’ business objectives.
  • Drive initiatives to optimize transportation, distribution, and warehousing processes on a global scale.
  • Negotiate, if beneficial, together with Wella the best freight rates for the services and service levels we need and ensure contract coverage in line with the company DOAM policy.
  • Ensure transparency of information flows on all in-transit volumes and ensure immediate escalation and resolution of issues.
  • Ensure compliance with international trade regulations and oversee customs processes and requirements.
  • Collaborate with legal and regulatory teams to navigate complexities related to global trade.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with global carriers and freight forwarders.
  • Identify, report, and mitigate risks associated with global logistics, including geopolitical factors, natural disasters, and transportation disruptions.

Global Kitting Operations

  • Responsible for the planning and execution of kitting services to ensure execution meets ghd requirements to supply.
  • Lead the strategic decision making for Kitting location decisions and strategic partner selection.
  • Ensure that Long-term forecasts and supply plans are robust and are issued timely to the Kitting Service provider.
  • Drive collaborative planning to secure capacity to fulfil ghd’s promotion and peak selling periods.
  • Support the procurement teams to help drive negotiations for kitting services and work with them and the business to find more efficient ways of working to take costs out.

Overall

  • Ensure invoicing from all 3rd parties is accurate and the account is managed to avoid any overdue or incorrect payments.
  • Conduct monthly performance reviews and lead QBR’s for the key partners.
  • Build, maintain and enhance relationships with appointed market 3PLs to build an agile and responsive logistics infrastructure.
  • Build and lead a high-performing global logistics team, providing mentorship, coaching, and development opportunities.
  • Support the global markets in their management of third-party logistics partners to ensure service standards are being met and lead the global strategy of best-in-class partners to deliver cost effective and efficient fulfilment.
  • Responsible for embedding best practice logistics procedures and policies and these are effective, reportable, and consistent across the markets.
  • Ensure up to date knowledge of legislative requirements and associated required communication around any changes.
  • Prepare cost to service analysis to be able to advise and influence delivery of GHD geographic expansion to deliver the business growth plans.
  • Provide all cost, volumetric and logistical product attribute information as an input into business planning and profit forecasting cycles.
  • Build excellent relationships with all teams in the business and external partners.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree educated preferably in a logistics or supply chain discipline.
  • 10 years’ experience in a senior logistics or supply chain role.
  • Experience within a fast-moving, international FMCG business.
  • Experience in e-commerce distribution.

  • In-depth knowledge of logistics operations and primary freight modes.
  • Proven record of logistics contract development and implementation of new operations.
  • Demonstrable understanding of sales and operations planning process and able to apply knowledge and intelligence to drive optimised fulfilment to ensure in market product availability aligned to requirements and safety stock parameters.
  • Ability to run supply reviews with markets with confidence and credibility.
  • Commercially aware and close to market and product dynamics.
  • Financially astute being able to build robust budgets and report on cost to serve.
  • Excellent communicator and the ability to influence at all levels of an organisation.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • As comfortable setting strategy as much as resolving day-to-day issues.
  • Able to build and sustain x-business relationships in an international setting.
  • Resilient and able to deliver under pressure.
