Job description
We are appointing the first Head of HR in the Radcliffe Department of Medicine (RDM), to provide strategic direction and operational implementation across the full range of people-related issues and decisions. We are a large, multi-disciplinary, multi-site Department whose core mission is to improve health by understanding shared mechanisms of human disease. This new senior post offers the opportunity to make a significant contribution to the Department’s realisation of its ambitious strategic plan.
Reporting to RDM’s Head of Administration and Finance, and a member of RDM’s Senior Leadership Team, you will lead and shape the Department’s approach to the provision of HR services, analysing existing HR provision and proposing and implementing structures, policies and processes to strengthen it. Your work will make a significant contribution to one of RDM’s top three strategic priorities, namely addressing the challenges of recruitment, retention and career development for all staff. You will work with academic and professional members of the Department, building strong relationships across RDM as well as with HR colleagues in the Medical Sciences Division and the University’s Personnel Services. You will line manage some staff in the RDM Strategic team and co-ordinate HR colleagues across the Department.
Educated to degree level in a relevant subject, you will be CIPD qualified to at least level 5 or have equivalent demonstrated professional experience. With demonstrable and substantial previous experience as a senior HR Manager you will bring to bear your excellent skills in strategic thinking, strong operational delivery and change management, along with the ability to relate to all staff with the necessary diplomacy and confidentiality.
This is a permanent position available on a full-time basis.
