In 1997, MAG was a co-recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize for our work campaigning for the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention.

About the role

MAG’s Head of Mission (HoM) will be responsible for providing strategic and directional oversight of MAG’s current Emergency Response and the future operations, and for the smooth functioning and the development of the mission. The HoM will actively seek opportunities for partnerships development and representation among key networks and work closely with the regional and OPT team to ensure that MAG is well networked, represented and established as a key player with donors, relevant stakeholder, governments, relevant coordination bodies at OPT national level. They will be responsible to completing MAG’s set up and registration and act as the legal representative of MAG in OPT.

About you

This position would suit candidates with relevant and strong experience in a similar professional capacity, and who have extensive understanding of the Middle East context. You will have previous experience of navigating complex crises across multiple countries in the region and a proven record of developing and implementing emergency response plans. This role will require you to have exceptional diplomatic skills, strategic thinking and the ability to navigate complex political landscapes. You will have expertise in the development of new business, including proposal development, networking and contract negotiations and proven record of implementing emergency response plans in collaboration with local authorities, partner organisations, UN Agencies and communities.

About the Occupied Palestinian Territories Emergency Response

Extensive use of precision-guided weapons, air-dropped munitions, land surface ammunition, and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in OPT has destroyed critical infrastructure and created a complex contamination profile. The risk associated with unexploded ordnance (UXO) will significantly impact reconstruction efforts, food security, and access to clean water. The MAG OPT Emergency Response aims to address these risks by educating communities, identifying, and clearing explosive hazards, and developing national capacity.
