Join Us in Cultivating Joy and Belonging for Displaced Communities Globally

Since 2016, Amna, formerly known as Refugee Trauma Initiative, has been dedicated to providing non-clinical mental health support to every child and family affected by violence and displacement. Our mission is to create community capacity for healing in communities ravaged by trauma. We envision a world where refugees can determine their future unbounded by the impacts of conflict and displacement.

For the past seven years, we have been working globally and in partnership with community organisations and international institutions to integrate trauma-sensitive psychosocial approaches and tools so that refugees can gain respite, share experiences, be listened to, and understood in safe, consistent spaces. As we embark on our next 5-year strategy, we are looking to expand our reach and deepen our impact.

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Monitoring, Learning, and Evaluation with a commitment to Amna’s mission and values. You will be responsible for shaping and leading our MEL initiatives to enhance our understanding of impact and drive continuous improvement in our programmes. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong project management skills, capable of overseeing complex research projects and fostering partnerships with external stakeholders. An academic background in research, evaluation, or related fields is required.

The successful candidate will be an experienced, ambitious and innovative individual, who can demonstrate thought leadership in their field. You will play a critical part in designing and implementing trauma and identity informed MEL strategies to enhance our impact and understanding of the communities we serve. You will have expertise in designing and leading sensitive and creative MEL strategies within complex and innovative environments, and a track record of managing diverse research and evaluation projects, preferably within the humanitarian or social impact sector. Strong networking skills and established relationships with research institutions, academic partners, and evaluation teams are essential.

Desirable qualifications include a Master’s or equivalent degree in a relevant field such as public health, social sciences, or international development, as well as proficiency in English with exceptional writing skills for producing high-quality research outputs and grant applications.

Amna wishes to encourage applications from experienced leaders drawn from a wide variety of backgrounds who can drive and inspire change for refugees and displaced people.
