RULE Prostate Cancer

was established by the merger of the Australian Prostate Centre and the E.J. Whitten Foundation joining forces and raising money to help more men and their families survive prostate cancer. Prostate cancer is the most diagnosed cancer in Australian men, with over 24,000 men diagnosed each year. Sadly, it is the second highest cause of cancer related deaths in Australian men. The vision of RULE Prostate Cancer is that no man dies of Prostate Cancer.

Reporting to the CEO, the Head of Philanthropy & Partnerships is directly responsible for generating revenue for RULE Prostate Cancer through the public fundraising, philanthropic, bequests, corporate, government and high net wealth sectors. The role has the primary responsibility of bringing in funds through these sectors to drive long-term sustainability, and to manage all partner relationships that underpin this revenue. The role is a key member of the Executive Management Team and as such is expected to be a major contributor to the RULE Prostate Cancer strategic direction and key decision making.

This role will proactively identify opportunities and leverage current networks to diversity funding sources and expand the donor base. You will work alongside the CEO and Board to establish a budget and strategy to meet targets, as well as develop comprehensive short, medium and long-term fundraising strategies and goals. This role will continually ensure accuracy of the donor database to assess potential new revenue areas.

The Head of Philanthropy & Partnerships will build and maintain strong relationships and a philanthropic pipeline, and regularly engage donors through various communication channels to inspire continued support. Along with fundraising team members, you will help plan and coordinate fundraising events and campaigns, and lead communications including fundraising collateral, digital channels and marketing material that convey meaningful messaging and compelling impact. You will provide insights and recommendations to enhance fundraising efforts and report on results.

About You:

  • An aspiring fundraising and philanthropy leader within NFP environment,
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a senior management team and contribute to the strategic directions and achievement of organisational goals,
  • Experience leading and organising fundraising events and campaigns,
  • Evidence of leading or contributing to income growth through building successful fundraising strategies and/or programs, including delivering outcomes with individual major donors and corporate partners,
  • Strong financial analysis and planning skills, including the ability to anticipate tasks, set priorities, meet deadlines and function smoothly under strict deadlines and shifting priorities,
  • Highly developed strategic marketing, communications and project management skills, with a keen eye for detail,
  • Excellent interpersonal and engagement skills, along with the ability to build trusted and respected relationships,
  • Proven ability to articulate the mission and impact of an organisation to diverse audiences and stakeholders,
  • Strong understanding of the fundraising and philanthropic landscape in Australia,
  • Experience delivering grant applications is desirable,
  • Outcomes and results oriented, a lateral thinker, proactive, driven and disciplined,
  • A kind, generous, experienced and dedicated team player, willing to challenge yourself and those around you to strive for better, being open to feedback and review, and energised for building programs income growth.
