Join us as a Head of Privacy Legal
- In this high profile role, you’ll be leading a legal team to deliver the legal privacy strategy and provide expert, accurate and cost effective legal advice in relation to privacy and client confidentiality law
- Your knowledge of the legal and regulatory environment regarding privacy in particular will be invaluable, together with your significant experience in the financial services industry
- You’ll be recognised as an expert in the privacy and data protection field, and be engaged with senior stakeholders across the bank and externally
- We’re offering this role for a period of six months
What you’ll doWe’re looking for an experienced leader to manage and coordinate the delivery of legal and operational advice with a focus on privacy and client confidentiality, and internal and external support to an area of our business. You’ll also be leading and managing your team, external advisers and other stakeholders in successfully delivering compliance to privacy law within the organisation as well as on transactions and projects on a timely basis.Additionally, you’ll be:
- Acting as policy holder of the privacy and client confidentiality policy
- Supporting the Group Data Protection Officer in discharging their accountabilities
- Making sure that our legal advice is readily understandable to non-lawyers, delivered within relevant timescales, and manages and minimises legal risks
- Ensuring high performance standards with a focus on development opportunities and proactive succession planning
- Delivering continuous improvement in operating practices and processes, including identifying efficiencies, improvements and opportunities to reduce costs
- Managing legal costs through the use of e-billing, auctions and other cost tools and driving a culture of disciplined cost management and controls
The skills you’ll needWe’re looking for a highly experienced solicitor or barrister with industry level knowledge of the EU and UK legal and regulatory environment relating to privacy and client confidentiality. You’ll have a track record of stakeholder management, along with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships up to a senior level.You’ll also need:
- Strong leadership skills and experience of organising, leading and motivating professional teams
- Significant experience in the financial services industry
- Expert knowledge of UK and EU privacy and client confidentiality law, regulation and practice in connection with the appropriate specialism to the division or business
- A strong ability to recognise issues of strategic, legal or reputational importance and evaluate and direct how they should be addressed and resolved
- The ability to keep up to date with and share relevant legal and market developments
