The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration of one year. There are very good prospects for an extension. Employment location will be Erbil, Iraq. 

Welthungerhilfe (WHH) Iraq works in thematic areas of economic recovery, food security and climate change adaptation. As Head of Programmes you will support the Country Director in further developing the program, fundraising and working with partners based on WHH’s country strategy and WHH quality standards. You will hold a key position of the mission, will be member of the Senior Management Team and lead the program unit composed of grants, partnerships and MEAL. Your main objective will be to ensure all projects are being implemented according to WHH quality standards and donor requirements. Additionally, you will support the continuous fundraising efforts with extensive external representation in Erbil and Baghdad, assessing new donors and also new potential partners. 

Your responsibilities

• Monitor the implementation of projects and programmes according to WHH quality standards 
• Lead the implementation of the country strategy with support of relevant departments and Country Director 
• Lead the implementation of the internal annual plan 
• Lead, manage and develop grants, partnerships and MEAL units 
• Support to the Country Director in fundraising and external representation
• Provide technical support to Heads of Project

Your profile

• A university or college degree in a relevant field
• 3 to 5 years experience in similar program related leadership positions 
• Experience in economic recovery and climate change adaptation programs 
• Experience in fundraising and networking, as well as working with partners
• Regional experience in Iraq would be an asset
• German and UN donor experience would be an asset
• Readiness to receive necessary vaccinations for working in WHHs program countries
• Strong communication and writing skills in English
