We are looking for a new Head of Project Controlling. You will be part of our Operational Finance team, which is part of the Finance, Risk, IT, Supply Chain & Commercial Contracts department. You will lead a team of 12 Project Controllers, providing managerial and technical support to the team on the financial aspects of project management, master budgeting, reporting, and auditing globally. You will coordinate closely with your counterpart, the Head of Finance Controlling and our Audits team. As the Head of Project Controlling, you will also be involved in projects across the department.

The Department of Finance, Risk, IT, Supply Chain & Commercial Contracts (FRISC) consists of more than 120 colleagues divided into 5 divisions. You will be part of our Operational Finance division. About the job
You will lead the team that provides budgeting and reporting support and ensures quality assurance tasks in the financial management of projects across all 40 DRCs country operations. Also, you will play a pivoting role in inspiring and developing your team, while you ensure processes are standardized across the board.
Key responsibilities
Team Leadership
- Lead the Project Controllers team and ensure their goals are met, ensuring high standards of deliverables and team cohesion
- Inspire and develop the team, both on a collective and individual level.
Financial Project Oversight & Strategy
- Analyze critical financial KPIs and BI reports to ensure operational health
- Optimizing, standardizing and streamlining financial project processes, within the environment of DRCs ERP system (MS DYNAMICS)
- Foster standardization, while promoting innovation and change
Expert Guidance & Capacity Building
- Provide high-level financial advice to country operations and directors
- Represent Project Controlling in leadership forums
Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure adherence to DRC policies and donor requirements
- Maintain the highest standards of project financial control and reporting
- Lead operational implementation of Financial Project Controlling modality
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with key stakeholders across Finance, Risk & Compliance, Grants and Program teams.
- Contribute to strategic projects within the FRISC department
- Conduct periodic field visits to support and align with local entities
About you
With a solid operational and financial project background, you excel in communication and leadership. You are an experienced manager with a passion for making a difference, ideally with a background in the humanitarian sector. Your high operational and ethical integrity shines through as you work autonomously on day-to-day aspects. Your strong management skills are complemented by emotional intelligence, allowing you to delegate effectively while providing hands-on solutions when needed.
You have likely managed a team of 6-10 people successfully, showcasing your decision-making capacity and clear understanding of accountabilities. You have experience in successfully improving processes and inventing manageable solutions, keeping in mind organizational standards.
Your collaborative spirit and ability to navigate complex situations are essential. You are eager to visit our legal entities in some of the world’s most interesting and challenging contexts, where your work will have a direct, meaningful impact.
Our working language is English, but French & Spanish will be an additional plus.
Moreover, we expect the following:
- At least a master’s degree in relevant field, namely Project administration, finance, engineering etc.
- Management experience, preferably from a similar international organization and for a minimum of 5 years.
- Have attention to details while keeping an overview.
- Experienced user of Excel.
- Experienced user of ERP systems (MS Dynamics) and accounting principles.
Ability/Willingness to travel, 4 weeks per year (not consecutive).
