Head of Proposition - Tenders Global

Head of Proposition

Youth Environmental Service

tendersglobal.net

Are you passionate about environmental sustainability and empowering young people? Do you have
a knack for developing innovative programs and building strong partnerships? If so, then you
could be the perfect candidate for our Head of Proposition role.

As Head of Proposition, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our Youth
Environmental Service, a groundbreaking initiative that aims to provide every young person in
the UK with a year of paid environmental work.

You will be responsible for designing and delivering proofs of concept that demonstrate the
programme’s viability and potential, paving the way for it to scale nationwide by 2030.

Specific responsibilities:

As a young and small organisation, you won’t be bound by established processes or rigid
hierarchies. This gives you the unique opportunity to shape the role and make a significant
impact on the organisation’s direction. Initially this will be on a six-month contract, but with the option to extend provided tangible progress has
been made, your focus will be on laying the groundwork for our next proof of concept, which
will take place in the North West of England in 2024/25.

This includes:

  • Designing and developing our second proof of concept to support the creation of new 50 paid
placements in the North-West of England in 2024/5, building on lessons from our first pilot (the New to Nature programme) to develop a clear picture of the specific interventions required to empower environmental organisations to create accessible
opportunities, and then to support young people to thrive within them.
  • Building our delivery network, bringing together a coalition of partners who can support the programme’s delivery across different
touchpoints. This includes developing partnership agreements to complement our existing capabilities across
all stages of the programme delivery, from recruitment and pre-employment to ongoing learning
and trainee networking, and then future career planning.
  • Engaging nature, net zero and circular economy host organisations (private, public and
charitable) in the North West of England who could create and fund placements as part of the
programme. This would include developing and refining a clear value proposition for them to participate,
and engaging with senior leadership, line managers, and HR to scope the roles that might be
    created.
  • Securing funding for the programme, working with our existing funders as well as engaging new
ones who could enable the next proof of concept. We anticipate that funding of c. £500-600k would support 50 new roles, covering both
central programme administration as well as providing targeted funding to help create the roles
    where required.

What we’re looking for:

Great teammates can come from anywhere. While relevant experience can be a plus, our priority
is someone with incredible energy and fresh perspectives, who will thrive in the context of a
radically uncertain but deeply ambitious organisation.

We are looking for a colleague who can augment our existing skillsets rather than replicate –
you’ll need to be proactive, adaptable and resilient, and comfortable operating in a
fast-moving and agile environment.

We are committed to creating an inclusive workplace reflective of the communities we serve and
the society we want to be part of. We welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds
and are dedicated to ensuring a fair and inclusive recruitment process. If you have any
specific needs or requirements we would be more than happy to accommodate where possible.
