This exciting, leadership role is based within Research and Innovation Services and works within the context of the University’s Strategy 2030.  The post holder will directly work with the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (PVC) for Research & Knowledge Exchange in the implementation of the University Research and Knowledge Exchange Plan (RKE Plan) and ensure that the review of related key performance indicators is fully coordinated across the University.  The role will lead the University’s strategic responses and organisational preparation for the next Research Excellence Framework (REF2029); working collaboratively across the university with researchers, Faculties, Research Institutes and Centres, Unit of Assessment leads, the Doctoral Academy and Professional Service colleagues.  In addition to overseeing all elements of REF2029 you will provide a particular focus on promoting a strong and developmental approach to research culture and environment across the University. You will lead, and line manage the expert Impact and Public Engagement team, to support continuous improvement in the quality and impact of the research and knowledge exchange work undertaken at LJMU.

You will be responsible for the strategic development and continuing provision of research information management systems to support the University’s research and knowledge exchange functions.  Additionally, you will use these systems to provide detailed management information to input to institutional strategic decisions.

Working collaboratively with colleagues across teams within Research and Innovation Services, other professional services as well as academics within our faculty structure you will form part of the RIS management team, be a member of the University Research and Knowledge Exchange Committee (URKEC) and take on projects and responsibilities commensurate with the position and grading of the role.
