What we are looking for
This is a key position within the country office structure in NRC Jordan. We are looking for candidates with senior management experience leading programme support functions in a humanitarian/ recovery context.
The successful candidate is interested in innovative approaches and building a learning culture. People management as well as change management experience is also a plus for this position.
What you will do
The purpose of the Head of Support position is to ensure that all support functions are providing high quality and efficient support for programme implementation.
Key responsibilities:
- Responsible for the strategic development of country structures, technical systems, human resource capacity and allocation. Facilitate the support function’s strategic input to the development of the Country Strategy and Plan of Action.
- Lead the country office’s efforts to develop new and effective ways of working adapted to the changing operational landscape and the transition of NRC’s portfolio.
- Responsible for development of new country specific technical SOPs, guidelines and tools as well as compliance and adherence to NRC policies, guidance and handbooks and donor/auditor requirements.
- Responsible for ensuring quality and timely support to project implementation.
- Oversee the annual workforce planning exercise and associated change processes ensuring that human resources are in line with projected financial resources and operational needs.
- Facilitate the Master Support Budget, country level budgets and BPO development, including assess and monitor costs and resource allocation needs.
- Responsible for organisational learning related to programme support and technical capacity building of support staff. Strengthen NRC Jordan’s approach to capacity building and training for its workforce in order to support the country office’s nationalization efforts.
- Lead ongoing efforts to improve data management, visualization and data protection within Support functions.
- Line management for support managers including Finance, Compliance, HR & Admin and Logistics and ICT.
- Member of the Country Management Group (CMG).

What you will bring
- Minimum 4 years’ experience from a senior management position in a humanitarian/ recovery context
- Allocation of resources and costs expertise
- Knowledge of market analysis and cash-based interventions
- People management experience – prior experience in a medium to large size country offices ( 200 + staff)
- Strong communication skills with fluency in English, both written and verbal. Arabic language proficiency is an added advantage.
- Demonstrated interest in innovation and learning.
- Demonstrated experience in the roll out and oversight of internal processes and experiences supporting transition processes is a value add.
- Experience with consortia is an added advantage as well as Arabic lang value add.
Understanding of and commitment to:
- organisational learning, quality management and development.
- working collaboratively with technical and operational colleagues within a matrix structure.
- Ability to work under pressure, independently and with limited supervision.
What we offer
- Duty station: Amman, Jordan .
- Contract: 24 months, renewable and accompanied.
- Travel: Approximately 20% in country.
- Salary/benefits: Grade 11 on NRC salary scales, with accompanying terms and conditions.
