About MAG:

MAG (Mines Advisory Group) is an international humanitarian organisation based in Manchester, UK, and working in 32 countries. We remove landmines and unexploded ordnance to release safe and productive land for communities, and work to reduce the threat of armed violence by supporting governments to safely manage weapons and ammunition. In 1997, MAG was a co-recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize for our work campaigning for the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention.

The Head of Talent is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in helping us achieve this.

About the role:

The Head of Talent is a newly created role within our People & Culture team. Reporting to the Director of People & Culture, you will be responsible for providing both strategic and operational leadership across our talent processes, including recruitment, promotion, and deployment. A unique opportunity to shape the way we work, the role is responsible for the both the development and implementation of a Talent Strategy which helps us to achieve our strategic aims. With an initial focus on supporting our UK contracted roles, including Manchester/UK, remote, roving, and programme international roles, you will also have the opportunity to work to build the capacity of our local teams in the area of recruitment.

On the operational side, you will lead the team to ensure that day to day recruitment processes are contemporary, transparent and accessible to both internal and external candidates. You will also have the opportunity to support the recruitment process for Leadership Team roles, other senior ‘hard to fill’ roles, and governance roles. As part of the People & Culture Leadership team you will work in close collaboration with the Head of Human Resources, Safeguarding Lead, and Equity, Diversity, Inclusion Manager to ensure strong integration across all our work.

About you:

You will have significant experience leading and supporting a team to deliver end to end recruitment in an international context. With a background in the humanitarian/NGO sector, you will be well versed in best practice talent acquisition strategies, with an ability to contextualise processes to meet organisational needs.

A strong collaborator, you will also be experienced in working with a variety of stakeholders to understand their needs, and design successful initiatives. You are creative, innovative, and determined, with the ability to adapt and shape ideas to ensure successful. You also have a strong commitment to working with EDI and Safeguarding principles in mind.
