Head Porter

Due to retirement, Robinson College is looking to recruit a full-time Head Porter (37 hrs/wk) to start in April 2024.

The Head Porter has managerial responsibility for the Porters’ Lodge (team of 11 full time and part time staff), the principal interface for Fellows, students, staff, conference delegate’s and other visitors to the College. The Lodge operates 24 hours a day 365 days a year, acting as a reception, information, post, telephone and security service. The Porters’ Lodge is critical for day-to-day operations and communications within the College and is a focal point for controlling and coordinating both scheduled and unexpected events.

The successful candidate will have previously undertaken a comparable role. We are looking for an individual with proven ability to provide first class customer service; excellent interpersonal skills; who has effective motivational skills; who is able to work with tact and discretion; and demonstrates an enthusiasm for working in such a prestigious environment.
