About the role

In this exciting and unique position you will:

  • Work with a team of other family members to inform, advise and collaborate on a range of participation opportunities across headspace National
  • Get paid to contribute your lived experience and expertise in the governance and services planning, design, delivery and continuous improvement of headspace National
  • Complete training and professional development in advocacy, safe storytelling and much more

Who we’re looking for

headspace is seeking people who have lived experience as a family member supporting a young person through mental health or social and emotional wellbeing challenges.

At headspace, the term family may include parents, caregivers, siblings, partners, Elders, kin, mentors and other community members who are viewed by the young person as people who play a significant emotional, cultural, faith-based or other role in their life.

We are looking for family members who:

  • Have a passion for youth mental health and family inclusive practice
  • Are willing and safely able to share lived experience and have appropriate supports in place
  • Are able to manage and balance other schedules and responsibilities with this casual position
  • Are able to participate in group discussions and work within a team
  • Ideally have had a connection with a mental health service whilst supporting a young person

  • Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
  • Are from multicultural backgrounds
  • Live in a regional, rural or remote community
