Responsibilities
• Actively coordinates and engages with the WHO and ILO to secure the engagement of and scale up the commitment and impact of the health and labour sectors, for the implementation of the new framework. Specifically, the incumbent: • Promotes the exchange and integration of relevant scientific and technical information from the relevant sectors into the implementation of the framework instrument. • Contributes to the integrated and coherent national chemicals and waste management systems through capacity building support focusing on integrating health and labour considerations into these systems. • Supports the identification of data gaps and means of resolution as indicators are developed to measure the progress of the Framework from a health and labour perspective. • Develops, implements and evaluates assigned programmes/projects from a health and labour perspective; monitors and analyzes programme/project development and implementation; reviews relevant documents and reports; identifies problems and issues to be addressed and initiates corrective actions; liaises with relevant parties; ensures follow-up actions. • Performs assignments, in collaboration with the WHO, ILO and other relevant actors by assisting in developing strategies, workplans and initiatives that deliver transformational change in the way in which the health and labour dimension in the management of chemicals and waste is handled, to achieve the strategic objectives and targets under the Framework.
• Researches, analyzes and presents information on the health and labour dimension gathered from diverse sources for sound chemicals and waste management. • Leads and/or participates in large, complex field missions, including provision of guidance to external consultants, government officials and other parties and drafting mission summaries. • Provides health and labour advice to the team for meetings, conferences, including proposing agenda topics, identifying participants, preparation of documents and presentations. • Coordinates activities related to budget funding (programme/project preparation and submissions, progress reports, financial statements) and prepares related documents/reports (pledging, work programme, programme budget). • Collects and analyzes data to identify trends or patterns and provide insights through graphs, charts, tables and reports using data visualization methods to enable data-driven planning, decision-making, presentation and reporting. • Performs other duties as required.

Education
Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in public health and safety, health sciences, social sciences with specific relation to occupational safety or health issues or a related field is required. A first-level degree (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in the specified fields of studies in combination with two additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics or data science programs is desirable.
Work Experience
A minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in the health or occupational safety/labour sectors is required. Experience in health or labor at the national government level is required. Experience of working with civil society to implement projects and programmes is required. Experience in relation to chemicals management in health or labour is desirable. Awareness and sensitivity to health and labour priorities internationally, including interlinkages with the sustainable development agenda is desirable. A minimum of two (2) or more years of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is desirable. NOTE: “Fluency equals a rating of “fluent” in all four areas (read, write, speak, understand) and “Knowledge of’ equals a rating of “confident” in two of the four areas.
