Job Description:

Project Planning and Budgeting.

Assisted in project planning to ensure that health and nutrition activities are thoroughly incorporated:

  • Participate in annual, quarterly and monthly planning meetings; ensure health and nutrition targets and activities are built into plans.
  • Provide feedback regarding budget for health and nutrition activities, identifying where savings may be made or where additional funding may be needed.
  • Prepared monthly and weekly work-plan for approval by District Manager.

Project Implementation Training.

Implemented all health and nutrition activities within the district, according to the agreed work-plans:

  • Provided training to community health volunteers, school council members and teachers on basic health, hygiene, and first aid for younger children, including the importance of clean water, hygiene and sanitation, the causes and prevention of diarrhea, malaria and COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Provided training to community health volunteers, school council members and teachers on sexual and reproductive health for older children, including sexual abuse, HIV, reproductive health, gender roles, menstruation, drugs and alcohol.
  • Provided training to community health volunteers, school council members and teachers on nutritional practices for younger children, including the importance of nutrition for growth during illness, the four food groups, food hygiene and conservation.
  • Training and refreshers of kitchen volunteers in health, hygiene, food preparation and conservation.
  • Formation and training of health committees in health, hygiene and nutrition at community level.

Project Implementation Monitoring

Monitored community health volunteers, school council members and teachers while delivering key messages to children on health and nutritional practices:

  • Attending at training sessions hosted by health volunteers, school council members and teachers to ensure the quality aspects; provide immediate feedback regarding any areas of uncertainty.
  • Trainings and coaching conducted to ensure that health volunteers, school council members and teachers are clear on the key messages they are delivering to the beneficiaries accurately.

Liaison and Representation.

Facilitated effective working relationships with government and other organisations in the district within the area of health and nutrition:

  • Ensuring strongly coordination with other organisations working in health and nutrition in the district to build synergy.
  • Attending at meetings with local government as requested by the District Project Manager.

Reporting.

Facilitate the collection of data and information in the district for reporting:

  • Provided key project reports on a regular basis and submit to District Project Manager.
  • Provided data on health and nutrition progress to feed quarterly, semi-annual and annual reports.

General.

  • Communicate World Vision’s Christian ethos and demonstrate a quality of spiritual life that is an example to others.

Required Professional Experience

  • 3 years relevant experience, including working in community development or health and nutrition.
  • Experience in delivering training in communities.

Required Education, training, license, registration, and certification.

  • Health training. A bachelor’s degree in a relevant area, such as development, health or nutrition, or similar training would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge on good health and nutrition is essential.

Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications

  • Knowledge on good health and nutrition is essential.
  • Knowledge of local Language will be advantage.
  • Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
  • List academic, technical skills or other knowledge preferred for this position.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate complicated technical issues in a simple manner that can be understood by non-technical people and to provide ongoing coaching in these areas.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including main language of area of assignment, and Portuguese; is an asset but not essential.
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel, or other similar software.
  • Work experience in the community.

Travel and/or Work Environment Requirement

  • Based in the Namialo

Language Requirements

  • Portuguese and local language.
