The Opportunity

We currently have an exciting VicHealth Local Government Partnership (VLGP) Health Promotion Officer position (reporting to the Team Leader, Health Promotion and Planning) within our Social Planning and Wellbeing team. This is a temporary funded role which will oversee the delivery of the VLGP project aimed at improving health and wellbeing outcomes for children and young people in the City of Melton.

You will be a proactive and self-motivated person with demonstrated understanding of health promotion principles and the ability to apply your knowledge in a rapidly growing and changing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and evaluate initiatives which contribute to the Council and Wellbeing Plan 2021 – 2025, as related to the VicHealth Local Government Partnership project, and subsequent plans and projects.
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders to develop and implement evidence-based initiatives aimed at improving health and wellbeing of children and young people within the City of Melton.
  • Oversee and facilitate the delivery of VLGP program and project planning, budget management, monitoring and evaluation.
  • Deliver high-level internal capacity building for Council staff to increase awareness and understanding of how to support the community in emerging health and social issues.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have the following:

  • Tertiary qualification in health promotion, public health, health sciences, community development, or related discipline with some relevant experience in a similar role, alternatively lesser formal qualifications and substantial relevant experience.
  • Experience in planning, implementing, evaluating, and supporting the sustainability of grant funded health and wellbeing initiatives.
  • Experience in planning, implementing, and evaluating health and wellbeing capacity building initiatives with internal staff.
  • Must hold or be able to obtain an Employee Working with Children Check.
