Health Promotion Supervisor

The Health Promotion Supervisor will play a critical role in creating awareness about Tuberculosis (TB), its  prevention, treatment and Control, within the TB care packages implemented by MSF in  In the selected health facilities Sadr City of Baghdad and in Taji and Babil prisons; in close collaboration with the NTP (National TB program)

The incumbent will be responsible for the implemention and supervision of health promotion activities aimed at raising awareness, promotion, prevention and TB control efforts. This role requires interpersonal skills, mobilization expertise and training delivery skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• In collaboration with the HP manager and PMR, implement and monitor health promotion strategies and activities for the target population in the selected prisons and in the selected health facilities in Sadr City
• Provide support for developing culturally appropriate IEC (Information Educational & Communication) materials on selected topics and tools for health education campaigns related to TB prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and stigma reduction.
• Conduct and facilitate assessments to identify barriers to TB prevention and control and participate in making recommendations for improvement
• Collaborate closely with local health authorities, social workers and other stakeholders to promote TB awareness, prevention & control initiatives
• Responsible for supervision, work planning, training and performance evaluation of the Community health educators; with the support from HP manager or PMR
• Identify the training needs for the CHEs and support the the implementation of the training for them
• Provide regular visits to the project activity sites
• Provide support and guidance to community health educators and social workers in TB-related activities, including monitoring and evaluation of their performance.
• Provide support to organize and facilitate training sessions, workshops, and focus group discussions on TB awareness, infection control, and treatment adherence for healthcare workers/ social worker and other relevant stakeholders.
• Monitor the implementation of HP activities through active participation in data collection, analysis, and reporting on health promotion activities, ensuring accurate documentation of outcomes and lessons learned.
• Stay informed about developments in TB treatment, and prevention strategies
• Work in close collaboration with the medical team of the project and actively participates in the project meetings
• Act as a translator/interpreter to the HP manager or PMR, during HP activities/during meetings on HP activities
• Adhere to MSF’s principles and protocols, including medical ethics, confidentiality, and humanitarian principles, in all aspects of work.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in social science, social work, behavioral science, public health or nursing.

Experience:

• At least 2-3 years of professional experience in health promotion and education, team management, program implementation, social work, or related fields, preferably in the context of infectious disease (TB prevention and control).
• Demonstrated knowledge of TB epidemiology, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment strategies.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, including, healthcare professionals, and government officials.
• Proven ability to plan, implement, and evaluate health promotion interventions
• Desirable: 2 years of previous experience in NGO sector and/or experience with patient support / health promotion activities.
• Desirable: Experience in supervising teams of minimum 2 members

Knowledge:

• Good writing skills. Good understanding of health promotion & public health
• Strong empathetic ability, as well as a mental fortitude to function in a sensitive context of MSF patients.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office
• Creative and flexible approach to work, and ability to work well within a team
